Turbine Blades
Aero engines and power plant turbines are operated at the highest possible combustion chamber temperatures in order to achieve maximum efficiency. Turbine blades are coated with high-temperature resistant advanced ceramics so that they can withstand the extremely high operating temperatures. The possible consequences of defective turbine blades are very serious indeed: sudden engine failure or expensive power plant downtime.
First all-round inspection for turbine blades
The new robot testing system developed by Thermosensorik GmbH for analysing turbine blades has revolutionised the servicing and maintenance of such turbine blades: In only 40 seconds (5 inspection positions) the testing system conducts a sequence of contact-free and non-destructive measurements on each individual turbine blade. The powerful inspection software autonomously condenses the complex inspection data into a clear "pass/fail" judgment.
This innovative Thermosensorik GmbH technology measurement and test procedure has been used in industry for several years now.
